Our family structures include single parent families, families where there is co-parenting, families where both parents are employed and families where one parent stays home with young children. Work and family commitments have made it increasingly difficult for parents to be involved in clubs and organisations like the P & F and schools have had to respond. Our P & F now meets once per year primarily to plan for Parent Information Nights from professional speakers. Recently we have had the Resilience Project and Dr Justin Coulson – high quality presenters who can assist parents with the very difficult task of effective parenting.
Roles previously done by the P & F have been subsumed in a number of ways. Fundraising is covered by levies. Social events are organised by the school. Communication is through Newsletters, Facebook, the SeeSaw App, emails and text messages. Parent participation in things like sausage sizzles are run by the school with parent assistance. The School Board has an important role in maintaining our Catholic Identity and Culture as well as working closely with the Principal.
Our annual Parents' and Friends' meetings are friendly, social and of no longer than one hour in duration. The meetings are held in Term 3 each year and are advertised a month before the meeting date in our school newsletter.
Any correspondence for our P&F can be forwarded directly to the school office to spboffice@rok.catholic.edu.au
